Wilmington Twitter only has to hand over certain data to a US court in the dispute over the planned purchase by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, according to a US court. The competent judge in the state of Delaware on Thursday instructed the short message service, as requested by Musk, to release the data of 9000 user accounts that had been used in 2021 as part of an investigation for possible spam or fake accounts.
The judge dismissed Musk’s other claims as “absurdly broad”. Twitter shares rose by one percent over the course of the year after the verdict was announced.
The proportion of fake accounts on Twitter is a key issue in the legal dispute over whether Musk has to go through with the $ 44 billion takeover. He accuses Twitter of withholding information on how it calculates the number of spam accounts.
