While Markus Persson, the creator of Minecraft, is still debating between whether or not to give official support for Oculus Rift, the excellent mod developed by the community continues to move forward with a firm step. In addition to being compatible with Razer Hydra for a long time, version 1.7.10Pre3 adds full support for Oculus Rift DK2 with absolute positioning, based on the Oculus SDK 0.4.1.
Although it is a preliminary version only compatible with Windows, it seems to work well enough to venture into the gridded worlds of Minecraft in virtual reality with the new functionalities of the DK2.

Installation instructions for Minecraft 1.7
-
- We must have run Minecraft 1.7.10 loading Minecraft at least once.exe, choosing ‘Edit Profile’ from the menu at the bottom left, selecting ‘Use version: release 1.7.10.’, saving the profile and starting the game once
-
- Download the Minecrift installer from mtbs3d (must be registered)
-
- On Windows, run the installer. A UAC screen may appear if we have it activated, we give it to ‘run anyway’
-
- Don’t have to check the ‘Install with Forge’ option
-
- We click OK to install a new Minecrift profile
-
- In Windows, a window may appear asking if Minecrift has been installed correctly, we must answer that the program has been installed correctly
IMPORTANT: We must download and install the MSVC++ 2010 redistributable if we do not already have it installed (vcredist_x64.exe or vcredist_x86.exe depending on whether we are using the 32-bit or 64-bit Java version for Minecraft). If we are not sure we can install both.
