The Vimeo video portal is already compatible with 360º content, and to support the initiative they are also launching a section where we can learn and a channel for creators to be inspired.
Vimeo, one of the most widely used video streaming portals, already supports contents in 360º, so all those interested creators can already upload their videos. To accompany the launch of this new feature, they have created a channel to serve as inspiration and a 360 video school that will be updated with new lessons focused on both novices and professionals. The system, among others, allows you to upload monoscopic or stereoscopic videos up to 8K, stream up to 4K, customize the viewing angle and other parameters, upload videos directly from programs such as Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas, sell our videos in a special 360 content store and download them to watch offline.
At the moment the audio only supports mono or stereo, although the Vimeo staff has confirmed that they are working on adding support for positional sound. When embedding the videos on other pages, they will show a compass icon that guides users to know which part of the video they are looking at. The Vimeo iOS and Android app allows you to play the videos and activate the virtual reality mode through an icon, just as it happens with YouTube and the Cardboard icon. Virtual reality support in the browser player will be coming soon, thus avoiding having to install the previous app.
