The Visyon team has developed two experiences on the occasion of the COP22 United Nations summit to raise awareness about the difficulty of decision-making in the prevention of natural disasters.
Advances in technology provide decision-makers with new ways to visualize information about climate and natural disaster risk, and can help to address them. The experiences developed for HTC Vive by Visyon together with the Red Cross Climate Center have been presented at the COP 22 United Nations summit, held in Marrakech, Morocco.
The first experience proposes the user to venture the future of the Arctic taking into consideration the impact of climate change. The second one recreates a flood in Togo, Africa, using the Forecast-based Financing (FbF) system, a new tool to allocate the appropriate resources to manage the risk of natural catastrophe in especially vulnerable communities.
The purpose of the applications was to raise awareness among COP attendees about how decision makers and scientists can join forces to increase resilience to disasters and reduce their impact.
