Futuremark launches its virtual reality equipment performance measurement tool that we can download for free or purchase its advanced version on Steam.
The new VRMark tool incorporates two virtual reality benchmarks that we can run directly on our monitor, without the need to have an HMD, although we can also use an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive and enjoy the free mode to judge the quality of our equipment with our own eyes. The program incorporates its own engine to ensure neutral results.
At the end of the performance tests, the results will indicate whether our team is prepared for virtual reality or what shortcomings it has, as well as a very useful score to make comparisons with others. The first test called “orange room“it shows the incredible level of detail that can be achieved with a PC that has the recommended requirements for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, and its goal is to indicate whether our team is ready for such HMDs. The second, called “blue room“, is a more demanding test with a higher level of detail and its purpose is to compare high-end equipment with specifications above those recommended.
The free version that we can download from their website, or with the download demo button from the Steam page, allows us to run the orange room test and the exploration mode. The advanced version is paid and incorporates both tests.
