For most of us, drivers are just something that is on the computer, or maybe to a greater extent something that is sometimes missing on the computer. Because it is when things do not work that we notice it and suddenly investigate what it might be due to.
Drivers are really small pieces of software/programs that make sure that your computer’s hardware can talk to your computer’s software. Some kind of translators. Need a driver for f.ex. your keyboard, then it will not work. In the same way, outdated drivers can make communication between software and hardware worse, and impair the performance of the given function. In the worst cases of driver problems, it may even happen that your entire computer becomes unstable, or simply crashes.
As you can see, it is very important to keep your drivers updated. But how to do so?
How to download and install updated drivers
Ok, maybe we tricked you there a little. Because we are not quite ready to start downloading and installing new drivers yet. Before we can do this, we must first find out which drivers need to be updated, which ones are missing and which are incorrectly installed. Via your control panel in Windows, you can find the item device manager. Here you can see all your installed hardware devices. And by clicking on each one, you can see which driver version is associated with this. For some hardware devices, you will see a yellow warning sign. It is a sign that an incorrect, or no driver is associated with the device. These are especially important to get fixed as this device is not working properly at this time.
Then we come to the very download of drivers. There are two ways to do this. You can (a) follow the above instructions. Then you visit download.dk/driverswhere you can find virtually all drivers in their latest version. Download the one that suits your device, install it and proceed to the next on your list. You can also (b) visit the section, Update all drivers, on the same page you will find programs that automatically update all your computer’s drivers for you.
But why even talk about doing it manually, when everything can be done automatically. Well, as with everything else, there is of course also a downside to this solution. The quality programs in the genre cost money. Typically around 100 kr. Depending on how good you are at IT and how much money you have, you can decide which solution is best for you. Both work quite well.
What can you look forward to?
We have reviewed it, but if you have scrolled down here to assess whether you want to read the above, then we can short buzzersthat you can rejoice in a better functioning computer, both in terms of speed and stability. Further, you can look forward to improved performance from your individual hardware devices and sometimes give them completely new features.
