Artificial intelligence paints us a future where we human beings ask ourselves, more and more, to what extent it will be able to match our way of thinking or even overcome it. How much time is left for that? Here we leave you some of the most important approaches on the subject.
Five to ten years. That is the time that artificial intelligence (AI) experts estimate for this technology to reach the human level. And you, do you think it’s possible? From BlogThinkBig we present the main ideas exposed in the recent Conference of artificial intelligence at the human level (HLAI) held in Prague (Czech Republic).
Ten years to know?
It seems that we still have a few years to be able to ensure whether artificial intelligence will reach us or not. At the moment, industry leaders are optimistic about what they call the emergence of the general artificial intelligence (AGI). At least this is demonstrated by the results derived from a survey carried out by SingularityNET and the AI research and development company in general GoodAI.
In them it is shown how around the 40% of the people surveyed dated between five and ten years the waiting time for the AGI to emerge. A positivism not so widespread among a 28% of the respondents, who believe that we will have to wait more than two decades yet, and 2% who do not trust that it will arise in any way.
What effects will AI bring?
In addition to specifying an estimated time to know when AI will reach the human level, during the conference we also wanted to highlight the security and social impacts of this technology. And it is that, the opportunities it will bring may also be contrasted with a series of associated risks.
Topics on which SingularityNET’s survey also wanted to show its results. Thus, according to those consulted, the increased threats which will need to be resolved will be related to military applications (59%), surveillance applications( 39%), and to the most common concerns such as centralization, privacy issues and lack of artificial intelligence education.
But peace of mind! Positivity was also among respondents. The future can go well and, especially, as it was shown, the thought is that it does so in a potential way in areas as concrete as the health (46%), the logistics (41%), the customer service (38%), the banking and finance (34%), and agriculture; retail sale, software development; and manufacturing (28%).
And you, what do you think? Will artificial intelligence reach humans in ten years?
