Users of mobile platforms can view content together in the same virtual room.
Google has announced that the new feature is now available “See together“for your free app YouTube VR, which allows you to create a virtual room to watch videos with others who connect from the Google Play app (Daydream) or the Oculus Store app (Gear VR), which will be available this week. The company doesn’t specify anything about Oculus Go, so it could be that support for the version coming to the Oculus store is restricted to Gear VR only.
“We believe that one of the best ways to experience VR is with other people. That’s why today we’re introducing a new feature for the YouTube VR app that lets you watch and discuss videos with others in a common virtual space. This new feature can be accessed from the YouTube VR app by clicking on the “View Together” icon below the playback controls of your Daydream View or Gear VR, ” he says Erin Teague, VR Product Lead from YouTube.
The image above shows an example of how virtual room search works. The user presses the “Join a group” button and the application searches for an available public room, after confirmation of the microphone activation. Once inside the room, the video chosen by a user is also played for the rest. So far they have not commented on private rooms.
In addition to this feature and the arrival to Gear VR, they have announced that throughout this summer will arrive new exclusive content, such as the Rockstar VR series in VR180 format.
