Aim is only 6 days away from PlayStation VR, and Sony has unveiled the first titles that will be compatible with the new peripheral.

The next 17 may land the new aim controller, a peripheral designed to handle it with two hands and whose objective is to offer greater precision and immersion in virtual reality games. The launch comes with the already known Farpoint, the first supported title, but Sony has announced new games that will also have support: ROM: Extraction, The Brookhaven Experiment and Dick Wilde.

Sony has shared some details on how the Aim controller was devised, which can be purchased with Farpoint for € 89.99. Takeshi Igarashi, vice president of peripheral design, and Taichi Nokuo, UX platform design, comment that the Tokyo hardware design team began work on the controller after having the idea of using a gun-like controller for shooters in PSVR, whose first prototypes were a combination of gamepad and the PS3 Sharp Shooter. Nokuo indicates that the decision that the device will not resemble a real weapon, was to make children and adults comfortable playing with it. You can learn more about their comments in the PlayStation blog post.

List of games announced with Aim support:

Farpoint (May 17)

The game has been intended to be played with Aim. “We’ve made aiming and shooting more natural and intuitive. Once you have the controller in your hands, you instinctively know where the buttons and triggers are. 1:1 tracking also allows for more skill-based play, as accuracy eliminates any form of aiming aid,” explains Seth Luisi of Impulse Gear.

ROM: Extraction (Coming soon)

ROM: Extraction is a wave game, developed by First Contact Entertainment, available now on Rift and Vive. The PSVR version will have some changes with Aim, as we will hold only one weapon, instead of two. This will result in a different experience, but just as fun, according to Adam Orth, First Contact developer.

The Brookhaven Experiment (Updated: June 6)

The title already available on PSVR will be updated to support the new driver. “Immersion wasn’t just our vision… the feeling of holding the gun in our hands also changed how the game affected us mentally,” says Phosphor Games.

Dick Wilde (Coming soon)

Dick Wilde, now available on PC, is coming soon to PSVR with support for Aim. “You’ll have access to six weapons with two different hands to take on swamp creatures. Each is designed especially for Aim and takes advantage of its tactile vibration, so when you lift the controller and shoot, you feel like you’re actually holding a virtual weapon,” concludes Kiron Ramdewa of PlayStack.

So far all the games that Sony has announced for Aim, but to this list we must also add the newly confirmed Arizona Sunshine that will arrive in June to PSVR. You can read the full statements of each of the developers of the previous games in the PlayStation blog post. Soon more titles will continue to arrive or update to support the Aim controller, so from our database you can check at all times which are compatible, in addition to many other applicable filters such as which have multiplayer or cooperative.
