YouTube Shorts are proving to be a real success, so the cvompany has announced on numerous occasions that it is always looking for ways to invest more in them and improve them. And apparently, one of these changes is to discourage cross-posting.
In a thread of updates, YouTube confirmed that since last August 17th a new feature has arrived to Shorts, the watermarks. In its explanation, the company mentioned that this brand will serve so that, when you share a Short on some other platform, people know that it was created precisely in Shorts.
Watermarks are starting to arrive on YouTube Shorts that can be viewed from a computer, but in the coming months the functionality will also be expanded to content viewed from mobile. At the moment, there is no official image of the brand.
It really makes sense for companies to place their watermark at a time when cross-posts through social networks are extremely common, as they invite the viewer to visit the source social network. TikTok has been doing this for years, and now YouTube is doing the same with Shorts. Instagram does not include a watermark on the Reels, but it is also the company that actively hides the videos that do have it.
