VorpX video with absolute positioning in Skyrim

VorpX strikes first in the war of the wrappers with the DK2. Ralph Ostertag, its creator, has published a video demonstrating the compatibility of absolute positioning in Skyrim. At the moment there is no firm date for this update, but it is a very good sign to see that we have movement again. Let’s see if Vireio and TriDef start showing their cards soon.

As you can see in the video, the possibility of approaching the objects and peeking out from the corners adds a completely new dimension to this title. It seems that we are a little closer to being able to enjoy Skyrim in the DK2, although yes, we will have to go through the box if we have not bought VorpX before. As Road to VR tells, the next big update of VorpX will be compatible with the DK2 and will allow us to play our usual titles (or at least those on the compatibility list) with low persistence and 1080p resolution. The absolute positioning, for the moment, will be limited to Skyrim, although we hope that over time it will be extended to other titles supported by VorpX.

Another of the new features of the next version is the option to adjust from the same tool the parameters that normally had to be done editing CFG files and the like in games. In addition to this, you will have the following novelties:

  • 15 new supported titles, and more coming soon
  • Reduced head tracking lag in many DX9 titles with vsync
  • Simplified setup (just choose the lenses in most cases)
  • 75% reduction in CPU usage by the listening process
  • 15% faster in pixel shader

Ralph has confirmed to Road to VR that the current VorpX licenses will be valid for the DK2. Since VorpX and Road to VR have an affiliation agreement, they already have a preliminary version and will soon be publishing new videos.
