One of our favorite horror experiences for Oculus Rift has decided to take the big leap and seek funding on Kickstarter. Fallen Planet Studios wants Affected to become a much more complete and terrifying product than it currently offers us and that is why it is developing Affected – The Cabin, a game in which we will move through a procedurally generated scenario that will be different in each game.
The goal is to minimize the gameplay mechanics so that we can focus on the horror of the experience, in a way that is friendly for both veteran and casual players. Affected – The Cabin will be:
-
- The closest thing to a terrifying live ride that we can enjoy at home
-
- One of the most amazing virtual reality projects on the graphic level of the market
-
- Created by a team of highly talented developers from all over the world
-
- A story that will unfold in an immersive and non-intrusive way
-
- Friendly to mid-range computers, but with amazing graphics and binaural sound
-
- An experience designed to get the most out of virtual reality
-
- An experience based on psychological studies to create scares
-
- Launched in the last quarter of 2015
Affected – the Cabin will have three environments to choose from: a wartime school, a mansion and a torturer’s cold slaughterhouse. Each of the scenarios will have multiple endings depending on the choices the player makes throughout the game. These choices can be choosing a route when the opportunity arises or choosing how and at what time we interact with some element of the game. As in the current version of Affected, we will have to play several times to discover all the possible endings and events, for which we will have the help of a progress indicator.
This new Affected will make the leap to version 5 of Unity and will also be compatible with Virtuix Omni, Cyberity Virtualizer and Sixense STEM, to immerse us even more in the experience. In addition to this, there will be binaural sound recordings that will make our hair stand on end in some moments, since we will hear how someone or something whispers in our ear, for example.
We can participate in the campaign from £ 12, although there are other options depending on whether we want to get the soundtrack or participate in the beta in September 2015, since the game will be released in November. The aim is to raise £18,500 and the campaign concludes on 18 December. You already know that you can download the current demo of Affected, with its 3 scenarios, for DK1 and DK2 here. Best of luck with this project that has left us so many good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) moments!
