ZTE has updated its flagship with the Android Nougat operating system and Daydream compatibility. The phone has been on the market since the middle of last year, which opens up the possibility for others.
The Chinese mobile manufacturer ZTE it launched in May last year the Axon 7 phone, which apparently had all the hardware requirements necessary to be compatible with Daydream, but did not have the Nougat version of the Android operating system. Thing that has changed with the latest update, which makes it the cheapest compatible mobile, since it can be purchased for a price of around 400 dollars, a cheaper figure than the other two options currently available, Google Pixel that is around 650 dollars and Moto Z that is from 700 dollars.
The ZTE device includes Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, 4 GB of RAM, 5.5″ screen, and speakers with Dolby Atmos. With this, there are already three phones with support for Daydream that we can find on the official Google page. As for viewfinders, at the moment only Google’s View is available, which is on sale in February, although others such as Huawei’s will soon arrive. The specifications of Axon 7 are similar in some aspects, such as processor and memory, to Samsung’s S7, so it leaves open the possibility that with Nougat they could also become Daydream ready.
