A new virtual reality technique that tries to recreate direct eye contact with the singer’s eyes.
PlayStation Worldwide Studios and Sony Music UK 4th Floor Creative they prepare a new musical experience for PSVR that will immerse us in a private performance with the British singer Tom Grennan. On this occasion, as they did with the experience of Joshua Bell, the team again introduces a novelty: the dynamic eye contact, a new technique by which the singer seems to look at us as if we were really in front of him. “This creates an impressive level of immersion that has never been possible before,” they explain.
To carry out this new method, the performance of the band was captured on green screen with the lighting according to that of the real studio, the Metropolis Studios in London that was digitally reconstructed for the occasion, which, in theory, allows to offer also absolute positioning similar to that of Joshua Bell. In turn, each of the performers had their own stereoscopic camera with which they recorded all their movements.

In addition to the visual experience, it will also offer 3D surround sound with which we will enjoy two of Grennan’s songs: Royal Highness and Found What I’ve Been Looking For. The project is thinking not only for the followers of the artist, but also for those who want to discover a “new way of living music”.
The free Tom Grennan VR app, which will be exclusive to PSVR until January 27, 2019, is coming to PlayStation Store next 27 july.
