For a long time, Twitter had strict policies and guidelines that suspended accounts indefinitely if they broke the rules many times. Well, Elon Musk does not agree with that, so he has just canceled them and revealed that he will restore suspended accounts.
A few days ago, Musk conducted a poll in which he asked his followers whether the company should offer “a general amnesty for suspended accounts, provided they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam.” The option was the big winner, with 72.4% of the votes, so a few hours ago the millionaire replied: “the people spoke, the amnesty starts next week.”
The people have spoken.
Amnesty begins next week.

As with any of Musk’s initiatives, it was not revealed very well what the procedure will be, so we do not know how the company will define which accounts should be restored and those defined as having participated in spam or having broken the law. However, people celebrated the decision.
It should be remembered that many of the suspended Twitter accounts have that status for having spread hate speech. However, it seems that Musk considers this freedom of expression: a few days ago, the new owner of the company restored the account of former US President Donald Trump, despite the fact that he basically ordered an assault on the capitol by not having endured losing the presidential election in 2021. We will have to wait how many of those accounts that will be offered amnesty actually take advantage of the new opportunity.
