It seems that some photos and impressions of the DK2 have been leaked. An anonymous source has sent the photographs and prints to Road to VR, which has shared them with the network. The cardboard box and the details that we more or less imagined are confirmed: it includes two sets of lenses instead of three (A and B), the integrated USB port and it is no longer necessary to connect it to the power if we are not going to use the USB.
The unit looks solid and not heavy at all. There are two sets of lenses A and B (not C) but the lens change is much faster than in the DK1. I also love the expansion port above; having a USB directly on the HMD opens up a world of possibilities for expanding the VR experience. I’m still getting used to developing with him. There are some things that are different from the DK1: the screen is rotated 90º by default when you connect it to a Windows PC.
The screen door effect has improved a lot compared to the DK1, you can only see some small traces that it is still there. That said, I don’t think the world is ready for VR in UHD (at least not from the point of view of the necessary power).
The screen is incredibly smooth in movement. Color, contrast and movement are light years ahead of the DK1.
