How to charge Oculus Quest 2 drivers and headphones

Oculus Quest 2 is the best standalone VR viewer on the market right now. Its fantastic screen resolution, excellent game library and precise motion tracking make it easy to recommend at a low price. While the battery life of the headphones and controllers is pretty good in our experience, there will come a time when you will need to charge them both. In this guide we will introduce you how to load your Oculus Quest 2 driversas well as the headset itself in case you encounter any difficulty.

Loading Oculus Quest 2 controllers

While the headset itself has a built-in battery that charges through the USB-C port on the side of the unit, the controllers themselves require a single AA battery each to operate.

To replace it, locate the battery compartment cover. It is located on the outside of each controller and is marked with an “eject” button on the controller itself.

Once you find it, gently press the panel down and slide it in the direction of the arrow. This will reveal the AA battery inside, which you can then remove and replace with a new one.

Once you’re done, put the battery cover back on the battery, then slide it up through the controller until it snaps into place. Make sure it is securely seated with the rest of the controller to ensure that it is properly repositioned and not accidentally damaging the battery compartment cover.

This means you’ll have to keep buying AA batteries to replace them every time they run out on your Quest 2 controllers, or buy rechargeable AA batteries with a charging station to save money over time. These can also be used with other electronic devices like an Xbox controller or TV remote, so it can be a worthwhile purchase.

The headset itself is much easier to charge. Simply use any USB-C cable and plug it into the port on the left side of the headset.
