The escape room style game has managed in a year to add another two million dollars to the total since it arrived in December 2016.
I Expect You To Die, the fun puzzle game in espionage environments of Play Games, has managed to raise over $ 3 million since its release on all platforms / stores where it is available, which are Steam, Oculus Store, Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store, i.e. Rift, Vive, Windows MR and PSVR. The studio is convinced of the potential of virtual reality and its future to reach the masses.
“The team put a lot of effort and hard work into I Expect You To Die, and the success we’ve achieved definitely shows our passion for this project,” says Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games. “With the support of fans, players and techies who have played I Expect You to Die, we have shown that VR can become a mainstream platform and that its future is incredibly bright.”
The game was originally released for Touch’s arrival in Rift in 2016, but in April of the following year it made the leap to other desktop viewers, such as Vive and PSVR. A few months later, in August 2017, the company shared that they had reached the million dollars, a figure that they have managed to double in just one year thanks to the continuous increase of the VR user base on all platforms, thus achieving that two million more to reach the total announced. It is possible that the free First Class DLC, which premiered in October last year and added a new challenge aboard a train bound for India, also helped in that work.
There are already several titles that have managed to overcome the million dollar barrier, and one of the most recent cases is with the musical game Beat Saber, which has not yet made the leap to PSVR. As for the three million, Owlchemy Labs ‘ Job Simulator game also accomplished the feat.
