A few days ago we received an invitation from ImmersiON-VRelia to attend the presentation of the GO viewer in the assembly hall of the UCAM, as well as the new offices of its new European headquarters in Murcia (the North American headquarters is located in Silicon Valley), an invitation that under no circumstances could we refuse.
On Tuesday 28 at 19:00 the presentation of the ImmersiON-VRelia GO took place in the auditorium of the Catholic University of San Antonio de Murcia. This is the same device that they showed at NASA a few days ago, a pre-production model that already gives a glimpse of the quality of the final product, allowing complete adjustments of interpupillary distance and focal length per eye thanks to wheels located on the sides. This version will be on sale in November in the United States and shortly after in Europe, and the biggest difference from the current one is that it will have totally different lenses from those used in this model, larger and of higher quality.
Ergonomically we found it very comfortable, and the finishes give us a feeling of the final product, not like the prototypes of the GO created with 3D printers that they had shown us previously. The unit is very well balanced and the smartphone fits perfectly thanks to interchangeable supports (yellow in the photo) that allow it to adapt to different sizes, we tried it with our Note 3 and it was perfectly fixed. A slider at the top allows you to open the compartment and remove the smartphone.
On Wednesday, the 29th, the inauguration of the ImmersiON-VRelia European headquarters took place in Murcia, located on the tenth floor of an office building where you will enjoy a spectacular view of the city skyline. ImmersiON-VRelia intends to carry out the entire process of design, manufacture and distribution of its products destined for the European market from Murcia, and they expect that their workforce will begin to grow during the coming months.
Without a doubt, Manuel Gutierrez Novelo, whom you can see in this photo with the Real or Virtual team, is one of the architects of this situation. When he met the members of VRelia during the last SVVR, he immediately realized the talent, desire and enthusiasm that there was in the young Murcian startup, and the understanding arose almost immediately between both companies, deciding shortly after that the merger would bring enormous advantages to the two parties that are now one. Manuel moves like a fish in the water among the greats of the industry and has behind him products such as the 3D BluRay and the H264 codec, among other achievements. Now, their new big bet is virtual reality by the VRelia team.
Now they have to work very hard to launch a range of products for virtual reality to the market, their GO viewer being the first of them, but in Immersion-VRelia they say that we have not seen anything yet, since in 2015 they are going to launch other very, very interesting products that will use the AlterSpaceAVR platform for their contents. And with the human resources they have, we are convinced that they are capable of everything. Time will tell, until then we thank them for having invited us to their offices, which we hope to visit again very soon to inform you firsthand of the result of their work.
