The update called “Shock &Awe” brings, among other things, a fresh PvP deathmatch mode, a new map and weapons such as a warhead.

Vertigo Games is letting go of the Horde: The frontrunner season of After The Fall brings new maps and modes for the popular VR co-op shooter.
In the test of the VR game After the Fall, I had little to complain about: the co-op shooter from Vertigo Games successfully captures the gameplay of the role model Left 4 Dead in virtual reality. After a few hours, however, the game becomes a bit monotonous. A remedy could be the now starting “Frontrunner season”, which brings a lot of new content.
The free updates will start in mid-February 2022 for owners of all editions on all platforms. After all, an important strength of “After The Fall” is that everyone can play together, whether using SteamVR, PlayStation VR or Meta Quest 2. Only Quest 1 has been left out so far – a patch is to follow.
After The Fall updates bring new maps, game modes, opponents and more
The Frontrunner season kicks off with four new maps. Two of them (Highway and junction) are reserved for Horde mode, which is also new. Up to four Harvest Runners are overrun by “snow births” from different tracks, initially only in endless survival mode. More Horde variants will follow later. Unlike in the PvP arenas of the “Tundradome”, participants can bring their best weapons to earn rewards if they succeed.
For the time being, the main game mode “Harvest” will be expanded only by one map. It bears the name “Boulevard” and puts you in the streets of Hollywood. There, the Walk of Fame is overrun by even more dubious figures than in the real world.
If you prefer to compete with other players, you will get the PvP map “Bunkers” for the tundradome mode. On the same day, the fresh game variant “Free for all” will be introduced, i.e. the classic deathmatch for lone fighters.
In the future, there will also be Harvest rewards in multiplayer matches – whether in team deathmatch or Free for all. Two weapons will also be added over the course of the season, including a powerful revolver with limited ammunition.
New enemy type “Skimmers” for the Harvest runs
A change to the permanent slaughter could be offered by the new enemy type “skimmers”, which will be submitted later. He then appears in ordinary harvest runs, but must be hunted.
Instead of blindly attacking people, this introverted “snowbirth” prefers to relax in quiet corners. Those who successfully complete the game of hide and seek can expect a “huge” reward, according to community manager TamTu Bui.
After The Fall will receive PvP Deathmatch mode and a new map
The update “Shock & Awe” brought the PvP deathmatch mode “Free for All” on Thursday, April 28, 2022: in this mode, all players are on their own instead of competing in teams. The new PvP map “Stockpile” in a converted warehouse is all about hand-to-hand combat and lightning-fast respawns. There are objects scattered all over the map.
Also included is the “Warhead” (a devastating missile warhead for throwing), the “Rage Booster” from a syringe and a “Tommy Gun”. The “Shock & Awe” update marks the end of the frontrunner season.
