The first shipments of Vive Tracker for the selected developers were made last week, while the deadline for new applications remains open.

HTC launched last month an initiative to send 1,000 units of Vive Tracker for free to those developers who were selected, after reviewing their registration and plan to use the device. The Taiwanese company has announced that they have received more than 2,300 applications since the applications were opened last January.

“We’re already seeing new ideas for Vive Trackers and we couldn’t be more excited about the breadth and depth of applications we’ve received,” said Daniel O’Brien, general manager of HTC Vive. “For us, the tracker represents an important investment in the VR community so that its future grows without limits in experimentation.”

Some developers already have the Trackers to put their plans into practice and create applications that end users will be able to enjoy once they are launched on the market in the second quarter of the year. Due to the high number of applications received, the Vive team has decided to keep registration open, which ended on February 7, while they finish reviewing all applications. Therefore, all those interested developers who missed the opportunity, are still in time to get their free units, signing up here.
