The line between the human being and the machine is increasingly blurred, and Elon Musk is one of the great drivers of this process that will revolutionize the history of humanity forever.
Elon Musk continues to propose the next steps in the future of humanity. Sometimes his ideas may seem unrealizable delusions of grandeur, yet the future is increasingly palpable. What seemed like a product of science fiction begins to form part of our day to day, and Musk’s dreams seem a little closer to come true.
The new major project consists of a technology that allows connecting the brain to a computer. Neuralink is the startup in charge since 2017 of the development of a thread implants potential to contribute to the treatment of different brain disorders and in ambitious challenges for the future of humanity.
Symbiosis between human beings and Artificial Intelligence
Despite the fact that its main motivation is to favor advances in the medical field, Neuralink could assume the ultimate symbiosis between the human brain and Artificial Intelligence. The possibility of making implants in a person’s brain tissue would allow him to be able to complete reading and writing operations, and handle a large volume of data.
Among the many medical applications it includes is the possibility of restoring mobility to people with any amputated limb by using smart prostheticsas well as those with some type of hearing impairment or in the sense of sight.
The implantation of Neuralink will be possible through a surgical robot which simulates the operation of a sewing machine. Threads, of great flexibility and thinness, would give the brain an ability to communicate wirelessly with external connected devices.
Wireless connection with external devices
Neuralink will provide a real-time monitoring with unprecedented freedom of action. Musk’s company has predicted that the first human tests start in 2020 thanks to the collaboration with top universities and academic institutions.
