When we are using a VR headset and we are with more people, it is interesting that others can know what we are seeing or doing in virtual reality. So far in Oculus Quest we had to use the mobile application or use some streaming device connected to a TV. One more option is now available, to duplicate the contents of our Quest to a web browser, something that works for the moment with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
In the viewer, you have to go to the sharing tab, where you will also find the options to record video or take photos, and select “transmit”. A window will then open where we are given to choose where we want to duplicate what we see in Quest, and select that we want to see it on a computer. If on the PC we have the window open https://www.oculus.com/casting , the transmission will be immediate, as long as viewer and computer are connected using the same internet network.
If we are inside a game or application in Quest, we can do it at any time by pressing the oculus to access the menu and following the same steps. The transmission is video and audio, but with one exception: the sound of the microphone.
