Every day that passes it is more difficult for companies to keep their customers’ information correctly, as there are more and more cybercriminals. And in this case, the company that suffered was Samsung, and more importantly, it lost personal information of its customers.
Through a press release, Samsung reported that it suffered a security incident in which personal information of its US customers was leaked. The company reported that the breach could not have stolen Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers, but in some cases information such as names, demographic and contact information, birth dates and product registration information could have been stolen.
Samsung said it has already resolved the issue that allowed access and is working with a security firm and the police to get to the bottom of the matter. Still, he apologized for any inconvenience this breach may have caused.
“At Samsung, we value the trust that our customers place in our products and services, trust that we have built up over many years. That’s why the security and privacy of our customers’ data is of paramount importance to us, and our products and services are designed and built with this priority,” the company continued.
Samsung did not report how many people were affected, but it created a Q&A mini-site to address any questions customers may have. If you think you may have been affected, you can check the site here.
