The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched what is probably the most modern stamp in the world in the form of several non-Fungible tokens (NFTs) to celebrate the country’s 50th anniversary.
The publisher of the new NFT stamp is the Emirates Post Group or the UAE Post Office. The special stamp is available in four different physical versions, in addition, the respective stamps are also available as digital versions.
The most expensive version is the “Golden Jubilee 2021”, which consists of exactly 2021 parts and has a price of 2021 AED (about 550 US dollars). Each unit contains exactly one gram of gold.
The second of the brands is entitled “Spirit of the Union – 1971”, which symbolizes the founding of the United Arab Emirates, while the third is under the motto “Year of the 50th – 2021”, thus representing modernity. The closing event will again be the brand “Projects of the 50th – 2071”, which dares to take a look into the future of the UAE.
However, these three NFT stamps are significantly cheaper than the showpiece of the collection, so they cost only AED 250 (about 68 US dollars) per piece.
Cointelegraph spoke with Abdullah Al Ashram, the managing Director of the Post Group, to learn more about the curious NFT collection. Ashram explains that the special form of non-Fungible tokens has been chosen so that people around the world can participate in the celebrations of the founding of the United Arab Emirates:
“This is definitely part of a larger strategy in which the blockchain will be the key for many more projects of the Emirates Post Group.“
With the launch of the NFT stamps, the UAE Post is taking on a pioneering role in the Middle East and North Africa in terms of the use of blockchain technology in this regard.
