When we hear talk about the extra gadgets virtual reality, we, first, have the joysticks. Next, we begin to think and what comes to mind is the wheel. Someone will surely tell you about the gun. But how many remember the virtual track?
Indeed, this is a special kind of virtual accessories that make a stay in vr-space dynamic and more diverse, giving us a brand new experience. Some are already use them in your Arsenal. Need to say a few words about them.
There are three well-known manufacturer of virtual lanes: Virtuix Omni, Cyberith Virtualizer and KAT Walk VR.
All tracks use the principle of sliding – user do “slips” on the track surface. At the same time, there are no complicated mechanisms leading track in motion, everything happens naturally. Here there are the first differences: Virtuix and KAT VR has a surface with a recess in the center (streamlines the movement when walking), and the Cyberith the surface is flat (allows the jump to be more natural when landing). However, for the first two platforms requires special shoes, while the third has a special coating that does not require additional changing shoes.
A few words about the design. Track Viruix Omni, Cyberith, and have a special ring, which is a kind of stop motion, keeping the user within the platform, and KAT VR protects the user from falling from an overhead mechanism to keep the body, which can withstand up to 140 kg and allows you to navigate without any restrictions. However, Cyberith has a triple pole (unlike the double support Virtuix), allowing the player to sit down and lock the body in a sitting position. This becomes more relevant if we take while in the hands of a wireless steering wheel and ride on a virtual car.
Virtual paths found fans all over the world, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. In any case, the choice should be done independently, the main thing that you won’t be disappointed. Good luck!
