Vitamin D is important, as it contributes to strong bones, strong immune system and normal muscles. In addition, people who lack vitamin D will feel tired and dull. Fortunately, vitamin D deficiency is relatively easy to get cured.
Not enough sun in Denmark
One of the biggest problems is that we simply do not have enough sun hours in Denmark, and in the winter season we can not form vitamin D in the skin simply because the sun is not powerful enough. In addition, our diet does not make it better. We are simply too bad to eat vitamin D Foods. The average intake of vitamin D should be 10 micrograms daily, but in Denmark we are unfortunately only 2-4 micrograms. The Danish Health Authority recommends that our blood should contain at least 50 nmol / L, but chief physician Jens-Erik Beck Jensen told in the DR program that if you are to fully benefit from vitamin D’s effect on the body, the real number is probably closer to 75 nmol/L.
Especially fatty fish such as mackerel, salmon and cod liver are filled with vitamin D. The only way one can get vitamin D through the diet is through animal foods. There are few mushrooms that contain a small level of vitamin D. Usually it is said that one should eat between 200 to 300 grams of fish per week. If you have been to the doctor and had your vitamin D level measured and if it is below the limit, then it is recommended to take a supplement of vitamin D. Vitamin pills also help against that you do not get pain in the muscles and bones from lack of vitamin. In addition, it is also smart to take vitamin pills if you:
– Not coming out
– Is very covered in the sun
– Are vegan
If you do not eat fatty fish every day, then it may still be optimal for you to eat a vitamin pill.
Vitamin D from the sun is absorbed by the skin, but the vitamin D we eat must be processed in the kidneys and liver. Drinking too much alcohol during the winter months can have an effect on your body’s ability to make vitamin D. Therefore, be very careful how much you drink in the winter season.
Be sure to get out when the sun is out, even if you do not absorb vitamin D during the winter season, the sun still has great importance for your psyche. A good and entertaining way to get exploited the sun is to ride a bike. If you need an excuse to get on the bike, then play tourist in your own city.
