Oculus Quest 2 may be the best VR viewer you can buy right now-it’s self-contained, powerful, easy to use and relatively affordable. Perhaps the only downside is that you need a Facebook account to use it.
Unlike several more expensive alternatives, to play Oculus Quest 2 games you do not need to be tied to a PC, which means you can move freely without the restriction of cables and take the headphones anywhere you want. But this portability has its advantages and disadvantages, the main one being that you don’t get the levels of performance and graphics quality that you get with virtual reality headsets running from a computer.
To close that gap, there is the Oculus Link software. It runs on your Windows PC and streams games to your Oculus Quest 2, giving you access to more advanced titles on the device. The platform allows you to play wirelessly over your Wi-Fi connection, but if you prefer a more stable experience, you can connect your Oculus to your PC via a USB 3.0 cable. The choice is yours.
Start
First of all, you need to check that your Windows computer meets the system requirements for Oculus Link. You need at least one Intel i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X processor, 8 GB or more RAM and a compatible graphics card. The platform supports most but not all Nvidia and AMD GPUs.

Once you make sure you have the necessary hardware, it’s time to download and install the Oculus app on your Windows PC. It’s the same software whether you’re using a wired or wireless connection, and most of the setup process is also the same. You will only need to plug the cable into the appropriate point if you want to use one.
It is also worth checking that you are running the latest version of Oculus Quest 2 software for the best results. From the main interface screen, choose Quick settings, Adjust, and About us. If an update is available, you can install it.
Making the link
If you have already set up your Oculus Quest 2, we assume that you have a Facebook account with which you registered your device. Use these credentials to log into the Oculus app on your computer.
During the setup process, you will need to choose a headset. Choose the Mission 2 and follow the instructions. If you have already gone through the installation process within the app, you can configure your headphones later by choosing Add headset from the Device screen.
To register your Oculus Quest 2, you will need to connect it to your PC with a USB cable, whether you plan to use one while playing or not. Oculus makes its own $ 79 cable for the job, but any good quality USB 3.0 cable will do. Just make sure you are using a USB 3.0 port on your PC.
On your headphones, you will see a couple of messages: click Allow in Allow access to data and Allow in Enable Oculus Link, and the setup process will redirect you to the main interface of Oculus VR. To return to the Quest 2 interface, choose Disable Oculus Link from the main navigation bar. If you can’t see it, press the Oculus button on your controller.
Playing games
The Oculus Link setup process puts you on the main Oculus interface when you’re done, so you can start looking for new games and playing them on your headphones. You can also browse and install games through the Oculus program on your computer.
To return to this interface later, you can connect your Oculus Quest 2 to your computer, launch the Oculus app on Windows, and then choose Allow inside your VR headset. Alternatively, if you lose the Allow soon, you can choose Quick settings and then Oculus link.
Wireless connection is easy, but at the time of writing this article, this type of connection option is a bit more experimental, so you might notice some bugs and some instability. From inside Oculus Quest 2, choose Quick settings, Adjust, Experimental features, and enable Air link. If you are setting things up on your PC, open the Oculus software and choose Adjust and Beta testingand enable Air link.

You should then be able to connect your devices by selecting Oculus Air Link from the Quick settings panel inside the Oculus Quest 2 headphones. If there are problems with the connection, see the troubleshooting tips on the screen.
Choose Oculus Air Link from the main navigation bar to adjust the streaming quality or to exit the interface and return to the standard home screen of Oculus Quest 2.
You can find more settings, including refresh rates and whether your VR audio plays on your headset or computer, by selecting your Oculus Quest 2 in the Device screen in Windows application.
