Oculus Connect 7, the annual conference for developers Oculus, Facebook held, will be carried out as a digital event at the end of this year due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
Facebook has announcedthat Oculus Connect 7 will, for the first time, held as a digital “event later this year.”
Each year, Oculus Connect brings together developers, content creators, marketers and many others to celebrate the dynamics and growth of the industry in virtual reality. In light of the growing risks for public health related COVID-19, we decided to take Oculus Connect 7 into a digital format later this year.
It was a difficult decision, but we have to give priority to the health and safety of our developer partners, employees and all those involved in OC7. Oculus Connect gives us an unprecedented opportunity to connect with our global community of developers. OC7 is no exception, and we look forward to the opportunity to share more information about the digital event in the coming months.
The company has also pledged to donate $ 500,000 to organizations serving residents of San Jose, the city where the conference was held over the last few years.
Almost all the major events of VR was somehow interrupted due to the outbreak of coronavirus. We have already seen the cancellation or postponement of events such as GDC, E3, Facebook F8, and others.
Even before the outbreak of the coronavirus no one had no idea that Oculus Connect conference dedicated to virtual reality — in fact, has in its composition of components of virtual reality. Facebook says that Oculus Connect 7 will be “digital” and not “virtual”, so we do not expect that to change this year.
On the other hand, HTC large-scale held its last conference in VR last month for a host of speakers and audience members completely virtual environment.
