An eye tracking technology with a current cost of $ 99 that Oculus will be able to implement in its viewfinders from now on, since as TechCrunch has confirmed, the company The Eye Tribe has been bought by Oculus.

The Eye Tribe’s technology allows us to control interfaces with our gaze through a kit available for developers and at a cost of $ 99. The company has also developed foveated rendering that allows our team to save work when drawing the virtual world, as currently performed by the FOVE viewer.

Oculus has not communicated the plans for the recent acquisition so we do not know the use they will give to this technology or on which devices they will implement it, although the company itself has already shown prototypes working with Rift and Gear VR. Everything indicates that eye tracking will be an important feature in the future of virtual reality, since other big players such as Google have also taken over their eye tracking startup, in this case Eyefuence.
