Pokémon VR, is available free of charge for headsets Oculus Quest is an immersive experience, created by fans, which, despite being rude, is doing a commendable job of adapting the original combat experience Pokemon for the VR format. Try the game for yourself, you will be pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable the experience was compared to other “unofficial” releases Quest that is available through side loading.
The experience begins in the classroom, filled with original pokemon-starters from the classic series Gameboy: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Connected through a network of glowing portals, these locations constitute a common world, full of various pocket monsters, other characters and scenery. Here you can select from many different avatars based on popular characters, interact with other humans and configure your list of pokemon.
Unfortunately, there is no real mechanics of capturing pokemon. Instead of hack pokeball wild monsters, you choose the directory of your personal Pokédex. Here you can set your stats, choose a set of movements to organize and command positions. However, you can throw a Pokeball attached to your left wrist to one of your monsters followed you across the world.
Once you’re all ready to battle, you can either challenge the player directly, highlighting his avatar, or by searching a random player through your menu. Once your opponent accepts the challenge, you’ll immediately be transferred to a huge stadium where you can fight in turn-based combat. For comparison, the mechanics look the same as in Pokémon Stadium; players take turns choosing from a variety of moves and attacks, replacing the monsters when they are defeated, while their composition is not exhausted.
Not currently is no leaderboard, no records to keep, but again, the game is clearly in early stages.
