The creators of The Gate have published version 0.70 of this application that offers us a virtual desktop from which we can launch various applications and multimedia content on the Oculus Rift. The great novelty of this version is a web browser that allows us to view various pages as if we were contemplating the paintings of a museum, touring different rooms.
The Gate also stands out for its innovative control system, since it allows us to use a tablet or a smartphone (it is compatible with iOS and Android) to perform touch gestures and control the application without keyboard or mouse. As its creators have told us, they intend to update the application to work with the DK2, including absolute positioning, as soon as possible. An application of this type will greatly benefit from the increased resolution, which will considerably improve both web browsing and media playback.
